Sanggar Rakyat, which is one of civil community in coastal area in the city of Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia, celebrated World Habitat Day 2015 on 5 October 2015 in Kampung Cangkol. The activity was done and funded independently by the people from coastal area in the city of Cirebon and was aimed especially for teenager and children in socializing that it is important to care for environment.
- The activities were:
- Coastal area observation.
- Write and draw about the condition.
- Get to know the types and examples of waste.
- Utilize available spaces for playground.
- Say “Happy World Habitat Day 2015”.
Sanggar Rakyat is a self-funded organization for youth in the area that attempt to participate in creating the good for the surrounding community. Activities that are done by Sanggar Rakyat focused on community learning and development or as accompaniment. The accompaniment mostly relates to educational activities to raise awareness of teenagers, children and other community regarding surrounding environment (such as settlements, clean water and sanitation) by utilizing visual media such as photography, video and writing as well as practical on-site experience.
