Quito - Mr. Basuki Hadimuljono Ministry of Public Works and Housing, end day of Habitat III Conference, Thursday (20/10), conducted meetings with some prime actors included Joan Clos (Executive Director of UN Habitat and Secretary General of Habitat III), Maria de Los Angeles Duarte (Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ecuador), Eric Solheim (Executive Director of UNEP yang juga Ex-Minister of Environment Norway), and Franz-B Marre (Head of Transportation, Water, and Urban Development Division - Ministry of Economic Partnership and Development Germany).
Other Indonesia Delegates who also attended every meetings are Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Republic of Indonesia for United Nations Dian Triansyah Djani, Ambassador of Republic of Indonesia for Ecuador Diennaryati Tjokrosuprihatono, and Senior Advisor for Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Social Culture and Community Role Lana Winayanti.
Joan Clos thanked Mr. Basuki for Indonesia contribution in the process of Habitat III, as member of Prepcom 3 from Asia Pacific Region, in negotiation between nations and Prepcom3 held in Surabaya, last Juli which built condusive base in adopting New Urban Agenda. Joan Clos asked for Indonesia's support in evaluation of one year implementation of New Urban Agenda. It opened oppotunities for Indonesia's experts and practitioners to support UN Habitat.
In that opportunity, Joan Clos delivered three main instruments in sustainable urban development as well, which are clear and supported regulation, integrated urban planning and design, and development of financial scheme for urban development.
Meanwhile in the meeting with Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ecuador, Mr. Basuki delivered his appreciation to Ecuador Government as the host of Habitat III UN Conference for the success in holding the event. According to him, as a country located in ecuador line, Indonesia has similarities with Ecuador which also experiences eartquake so it is possible to build partnership in disaster mitigation.
In the same day, Mr. Basuki also got a visit from Executive Director of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) discussed about environment policies in fostering sustainable development.
Mr. Basuki held a discussion with Eric Solheim, ex-minister of environment Norway about the development of Green Climate Fund. Green Climate Fund is a climate funding mechanism operated under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
In that opportunity Eric Solheim memberikan masukan such as goals identification is necessary, with government as focal point in the process, and build a networking with potential partners.
In the meeting with Franz-B Marre, Mr. Basuki said that Indonesia is ready to implement NUA where Bappenas will be the focal point of NUA supported by Habitat Indonesia National Secretariate. The challenge is strenghtened the role of local government is necessary in the implementation of NUA.
Moreover, measuring the success implementation of NUA could not be only from countable indicators, also from the liveability or prosperity level which can be counted by society satisfication survey.(Public Communication Bureau, Ministry of Public Works and Housing)
