Welcome to Seknas Habitat

The Habitat Indonesia National Secretariat (Seknas Habitat) was formed under the joint decree State Ministry of Housing and Ministry of Public Works, Republic of Indonesia in 2007.

Seknas Habitat serves as a common house for stakeholders and knowledge center for best practices in housing and urban development. The main objective is to mainstream the Habitat Agenda in order to achive the Habita Agenda goals: shelter for all and sustainable urbanization.

UNU-IRA-INAT-ICARDA-CAREERI-ALRC-GM Scholarship
The Joint Master’s Degree (MSc) Programme on Integrated Drylands Management is offered jointly through the partnership between the United Nations University (UNU), Institut des Régions Arides (IRA), Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute (CAREERI), the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), Institut National Agronomique de Tunisie (INAT) Tottori University (TU), and the Global Mechanism (GM) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
The MS Programme is designed to enhance the capacity of developing countries to manage their drylands resources. It is intended to provide young professionals and scientists an international perspective on resource management approaches in drylands. Students enrolled in the 2010-2011 programme will attend a 4-week intense course at CAREERI facilities in Lanzhou, China from 13 September - 12 October 2010. Upon completion of the course work and approval of the research proposal, students will carry out their field research which will be hosted by one of the partner organizations. The students are also required to complete a research project in their home country. The MS Programme is jointly offered by the seven partner institutions as an internationally accepted degree.
Conservation International Indigenous Leaders Conservation Fellowship
The Indigenous Leaders Conservation Fellowship is sponsored by Conservation International to create opportunities for leaders and scholars from indigenous and traditional peoples communities and organizations to explore solutions to the impacts of climate change and the threats to ecosystems and biodiversity that are affecting their lands, communities and livelihoods.
The program will focus on supporting the fellow’s research and demonstration of the contribution of traditional knowledge in adapting to climate change and maintaining healthy ecosystems, and how that knowledge can work with science and new technologies to influence policy and action. This year-long fellowship will be offered to four candidates. Two fellowships will be awarded within the topic of Biodiversity, and two within the topic of Climate Change.

Tema: Pemberdayaan Komunitas untuk Urbanisasi Berkelanjutan

Negara-negara kawasan Asia Pasifik, dalam dekade terakhir mengalami urbanisasi yang meningkat pesat di mana di dalamnya terdapat tantangan yang kompleks untuk perencana kota. Merujuk pada APMCHUD, sebelas dari kota-kota megapolitan di dunia yang memiliki populasi lebih dari 10 juta orang berlokasi di Asia. Pertumbuhan perkotaan diproyeksi akan meningkat dua kali lipat dari 3,3 milyar pada 2007 menjadi 6,4 milyar pada 2050. Sebagian besar dari pertumbuhan ini akan berlangsung di negara berkembang.

Pada kota-kota tersebut, diperkirakan 43 % dari penghuni kota akan bertempat tinggal di daerah kumuh. Diperkirakan pada 2020, populasi penduduk kumuh dunia akan mencapai 1,4 milyar atau satu dari dua warga daerah kumuh akan bertempat tinggal di Asia.
